Realme P4 Pro was released this month worldwide at an affordable price. This brings a brighter display, a new HyperVision AI chip, a faster SoC, and a larger 7000mAh battery, yet it keeps the slim and sleek profile. Is it the best gaming phone to buy for $340? Let’s go into the review to find out.
The realme P4 Pro packs a 6.8-inch (2800 x 1280 pixels) 1.5K 4D curved AMOLED display with up to 144Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, 453 PPI, better than the P3 Pro. Some of the stock apps are in 144Hz; otherwise, it sticks around 120Hz.

Realme P4 Pro Short Review
Overall, if we look at this phone, it is equipped with many features for such a price. Whether it is the display or the processor, everything seems to be excellent, but according to my personal opinion, the battery of this phone is commendable. However, here we will try to highlight some of the features of this phone.

Realme P4 Pro Display, Hardware and Design
Realme P4 Pro has a 6.8-inch 1.5K 4D curved AMOLED display (2800 × 1280) that features a peak refresh rate of 144Hz (although most apps can only run up to 120Hz), which should be super smooth. Its 240Hz touch sampling rate and 453 PPI offer clear visuals and responsiveness. The peak brightness is rated 6500nits and outdoor it is 1800nits, so the sun light legibility is great. Brightness can also be decreased for dark environment. It has 100% DCI-P3 color gamut in Vivid, Natural, Pro, Cinematic and Brilliant modes for brilliant visuals.

The device includes 4608Hz high-frequency flicker with AI eye comfort but not DC dimming. It is compatible with HDR10 for YouTube (note: it does not support Netflix) and features AI Hyper Clarity, Always-on HDR and MEMC Hyper Motion up to 120fps, with the support of HyperVision AI Chip. Design wise, it has ultra narrow bezels (1.48mm), Gorilla Glass 7i protection, and an always on-display in lieu of a notification LED.
The punch-hole on the screen now has a new 50MP selfie camera in it, up from the 16MP one in the previous model. The earpiece also acts as a second speaker, and there is stereo audio and an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Ports and buttons are clearly laid out: power and volume on the right, USB-C, SIM slot, microphone and speaker on the bottom; and the top of the phone offers another mic, speaker grille and IR blaster. Midnight Ivy comes in matte finish, whereas Birch Wood and Dark Oak Wood is fabricated with tough tech-wood material. Despite packing a huge 7000mAh battery, the device manages to stay slim (7.7mm thick), light (189g) and well-balanced, along with being water and dust proof with an IP68/IP69 certificate.
Realme P4 Pro Camera
- 50MP rear camera with 1/1.56″ Sony IMX896 sensor, OIS, f/1.8 aperture
- 8MP ultra-wide camera with f/2.2 aperture
- 50MP front-facing camera with 1/2.88″ OV50D sensor, f/2.4 aperture
The camera section of realme UI 6 includes Pro, Panorama, Film, Slo-mo, Time-Lapse, Dual-View, Underwater, Text Scanner, and Tilt-Shift modes. The rear camera, with the help of 50MP sensor, can render 12.5MP images after pixel binning, and the front comes with 14.6MP shots.
Daylight pictures are also impressive, with strong detail and a nudge towards auto HDR helps with the improved dynamic range. Furthermore, the AI mode automatically changes settings to improve coloration.

Though there’s no dedicated macro lens, 2x macro shots from the primary sensor are reasonably good. Portrait shots show fine detail, and zoom goes all the way to 20x, though quality deteriorates beyond 10x due to the omission of a telephoto lens. The ultra-wide camera delivers decent output.
The low-light photography is also solid, especially with night mode, though the processing takes a few seconds. The new 50MP front sensor is impressively better than the P4 Pro, which when combined with the sensor of the monochrome sensor also makes excellent selfies and portraits.

On the video side, the front and rear cameras can both record 4K video at 60fps, while there’s 1080p 120fps slo-mo on offer. Portrait video maxes out at 1080p 30fps and ultra-steady mode operates at 1080p 60fps. The primary camera also has 4K 30fps HDR video. Also the OIS(Optical Image Stabilization) feature captures the better photos and videos.
Realme P4 Pro Battery
In terms of battery life, the phone is equipped with a built-in 7000mAh (typical) Titan battery. It comes with 80W SuperVOOC Charge, similar to its predecessor. It has fast charging and with the 80W charger provided it can charge up to 50% in under 30 minutes and up to 100% in under 60 minutes, which is good.

Smart charging and stop charging at 80% to protect battery. However, this doesn’t actually indicate the battery health. It also does bypass charging while gaming, so the current is bypassing the battery and going directly to the mobo so it doesn’t flow through the battery.
