Redmi 15 5G Display
Redmi 15 has been launched with an Immersive 6.9″ FHD+ display, with an IPS LCD panel, resolution of 2340 x 1080, and up to 144Hz high refresh rate. The company claims that the display has an ability of 850nits peak brightness. In such a price range, the display performance, colors, and contrast are good and admirable.
But on the other hand, this is still an LCD panel on a budget phone. Which means it doesn’t have great viewing angles — if you look at the screen from off-center, certain parts of the screen look darker or lighter.
Backlight bleed is visible at the upper and lower bezel, and some slight vignetting in the corners. And of course, the blacks are not really blacks. But none of these are deal breakers, and overall image quality is still quite good.
In maximum brightness, the display also gets “OK” bright for outdoor use. It’s not going to knock your socks off with how bright it can get, yet the display was consistently legible. And since this was a serious problem in the previous generation model, we’re glad to see this.
Redmi 15 5G Software
The Redmi 15 5G launches with Xiaomi’s HyperOS 2 overlaid on Android 15. Expect a two-year commitment for major Android upgrades plus a four-year Java-level security guard. HyperOS 3, launching with Android 16, should arrive before the calendar turns another 12 pages.
The software’s got the same DNA as MIUI, and the pedigree shows. No rough learning curve here. Toggle a few themes, swap the always-on listen key, and the experience molds to most hands. Redmi veterans from 2020 and earlier paradigms will take two swipes and call it déjà vu.
If, however, day-to-day swipes and taps feel as familiar as yesterday’s lockscreen, the retrofitting of wallpapers and icons won’t erase the feeling it’s the same foam-finger version of Android, floor-liana with a borrowed iOS QuickNook kitchen. Every gesture, dock folder, and translucent—oh so translucent layer argues more for imitation than for reimagination.
Turning to software on the Redmi 15 5G, we’re greeted with the usual layer of bloat that Xiaomi phones deliver, especially in the Indian market. In a curious tweak, the native Mi app store has been swapped out for a third-party equivalent that pushes even more bundled content.
Ultimately, the sticker price is just a starting point; most of the actual cost is incurred subtly through all the pre-loaded software and the ads that pepper the interface.
Redmi 15 5G Performance
The Redmi 15 5G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6S Gen 3. On the CPU side, its specifications mirror those of the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 AE and standard 4 Gen 2 used in both the Redmi 13 5G and the Redmi 12 5G. The only upgrade here is a beefed-up GPU.
Inside, the phone combines this CPU with a choice of 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. You’ll be safe for most gaming and app multitasking.
In benchmarks, the CPU performance of the Redmi 15 5G sits side-by-side with its two older siblings. For a two-year upgrade cycle, this isn’t very pleasant, hinting at a CPU that already feels mature. The lack of a fresh architecture could lead the device to show signs of age a bit sooner.
The GPU is the highlight. The new Adreno 619 offers a 2.5x performance increase over the Adreno 613 in the two older Redmi models. This leap is impressive and should boost gaming frame rates while slicing thermal load.
Sadly, the Redmi 15 5G isn’t going to win any gaming medals. In BGMI, the best it can manage at the lowest settings is 40 to 50 frames per second. It’s playable, sure, and it does outpace last year’s models, but most gamers care about maintaining a steady 60 FPS ceiling, especially when the game isn’t particularly demanding. Dropping below that can lead to stutters that take you out of the zone and hurt your chances of anchoring the squad.

Even with the extra tasks, the phone easily lasts a full day. For anyone choosing the Redmi 15 as a primary or even travel backup phone, the extra charging oomph means you’ll stay powered up for longer outside an outlet.
