“Dear curstomer “Internet Down Across Pakistan” we are facing a data connectivity challenge on PTCL and Ufone services. Teams are working to restore it quickly. We regret the inconvenience,” a PTCL spokesperson told earlier today. Across Pakistan, internet users are battling widespread slowdowns and outages, triggered by a fault at an upstream provider.

Initial indications suggest the breakdown is linked to the heavy flooding affecting the country, which has trickled down to several major ISPs. Nayatel, along with PTCL and Ufone, has already acknowledged service interruptions.

Nayatel’s statement describes the root cause: a fault in an upstream provider’s infrastructure that carries international bandwidth into Pakistan. This has led to degraded service, with many customers facing slow browsing, high latency, or no connectivity at all in some areas.

Reports have been flooding in all day, with users struggling to load websites or connect to online services. Monitoring site DownDetector is also logging a dramatic rise in outage reports from across the country.

Despite the updates regarding Internet Down Across Pakistan from providers, no timeline has been given for a complete fix; engineers are currently coordinating with upstream partners to accelerate the recovery.
